A satellite bull watches a large herd of elk from a distance as he keeps his own distance from the herd bull. Montana elk hunting trips are a blast during the September rut. Bow hunting them in the open terrain has it's challenges as hay bale blinds on alfalfa fields and creek crossings are a lot of fun to hunt.
